Policy

EPF is active in a number of policy areas, monitoring new developments to ensure that the patient perspective is proactively incorporated into the EU policy agenda; developing and implementing campaign and advocacy strategies to positively influence the EU institutions and all relevant stakeholders; and supporting our member organisations with information about developments at EU level that may have an impact on them.

We provide a patient perspective to the European Commission’s public consultations and regularly liaise with the European Parliament and Council on key policy dossiers. To our membership, we provide background briefings and regular updates about key policy developments at EU level, as well as tools to support their proactive involvement in national policy-making. We also advocate proactively vis-à-vis the EU Institutions and a wide range of stakeholders on key patient issues prioritised by our membership.

We have a strong and clear procedure on consulting our membership on all of the strategic and advocacy work that we undertake, and we are supported in this by a Policy Advisory Group made up of representatives from our membership. We also have very good collaborations with fellow health stakeholders and representatives of broader civil society and work in concert wherever possible.
