The final conference of the Value+ project was deemed a huge success. Nearly 100 patient leaders, allies and health stakeholders from around Europe gathered in Gothenburg, Sweden in December on 9-10, 2009. The conference looked to enhance political commitment on patient involvement at both the project and policy level. High level political representatives were also present. Göran Hägglund, Swedish Minister of Health and Social Affairs reflected on patient centred healthcare in Sweden and Polish Under Secretary of State, Adam Fronczak described the new drive towards patient involvement in Poland. The end of the day-two conference broke out into parallel workshops where participants had the opportunity to learn more about good practices and challenges in patient involvement, and how to use the Value+ Policy Recommendations in different contexts.
