CALLIOPE Network

CALLIOPE Network is part of the Open eHealth Initiative, initiated by 17 health authorities and 11 organisations representing networks of physicians, community pharmacists, patients, industry and health insurers. Its aim is to establish an appropriately governed, composed and structured open forum where Member States can implement interoperable eHealth solutions, in close collaboration with key stakeholders (users, industry and payers).

The CALLIOPE Network is expected to contribute to standardisation activities and provide input to CIP PSP, towards better focusing of future programme funded activities in cross-border eHealth. The implementation of the CALLIOPE Network will lead to setting up a portfolio of targeted services related to eHealth Interoperability, exploiting primarily the open platform, governance and networking capacity.

The project is funded by the ICT Policy Support programme under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). It began on June 1,  2008 with a duration period of 30 months. The total project cost is 500,000 euros.
