“Patients should be at the centre of healthcare systems in all Member States” says Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament
The European Health Parliament (EHP) and its 6 partners, including EPF, received a letter from European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, who endorsed recent efforts in advancing health policy, in the framework of the latest EHP edition on Wednesday 6 February.
Mr Tajani welcomed the push toward more innovation in the health sector, digital and health literacy, but also made a strong emphasis on patient empowerment being a necessary requirement for the future of healthcare. He encouraged patients, researchers, healthcare professionals and policymakers to “join forces for a new health plan in all the European Union”.
With patient empowerment, involvement in research and much more being at the heart of what matters to patients as well as our very own EU Elections campaign, EPF strongly welcomes these statements. We look forward to taking on board these encouraging words and striving to make health and patients’ rights an EU priority post-2020.
