The EUPATI Toolbox on Medicines Research and Development is LIVE!

© EUPATI

On 27 January 2016, the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation, (EUPATI) launched its second "core product", after the EUPATI Patient Expert Training Course, the EUPATI Toolbox for patient advocates on Medicines Research and Development.

Funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), EUPATI aims to provide scientifically reliable, objective and comprehensive information to patients on medicines research and development.

This new resource will provide patient advocates trustworthy and understandable information and education around how the medicines research and development process works. The Toolbox includes articles, presentations, videos, and factsheets around all aspects of a medicine’s development process, including how to involve patients in this process. The material will be available in seven languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, and Italian.

Through this Toolbox we aim to increase the capacity of patients and patient advocates to be effective advocates with meaningful involvement in areas like drug discovery and non-clinical testing, planning and conduct of clinical trials, regulatory affairs, assessment of safety of medicines, benefit-risk assessment, as well as principles of Health Technology Assessment (HTA).

To fill the EUPATI Toolbox with quality content on almost all aspects covered by the training course in 7 languages, the content production and editorial teams have been working extremely hard to finalise, review, translate and upload content.
