Brian Charles West
Brian Charles West has been living with HIV for over 30 years. He became involved in HIV activism in 1986, predominantly at that time involved with community based palliative care provision for people dying from AIDS related illnesses
He is Chair of the Board of Directors of the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG), co-Chair of the HIV in Europe Initiative and is also involved with several Scottish HIV organisations, as well as the UK CAB. He represents EATG on the Scientific Committee for the HIV12 Congress and at AIDS Action Europe.
“I believe that all people living with HIV should have universal access to prevention, treatment, care and support. This is very pertinent the further east you live in Europe, where the numbers of people who know their HIV status, and are receiving treatment is criminally poor – worse than that in some parts of Africa”, he said.
