Call for interest – EATRIS-Plus searching for patient advisory committee members

May 2020

In cooperation with EATRIS, EPF is pleased to announce a call for patient representatives for a Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) for the EATRIS-Plus Project.

The PAC will inform EATRIS-Plus activities from a patient perspective and identify mechanisms for meaningful patient involvement and input throughout the project. We believe engaging patients at the heart of EATRIS-Plus activities will be key to the success of this project.

ABOUT THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

We are searching for a group of 4-5 people, which we hope to remain as a consultative body beyond the scope of the project. The group will attend 1 meeting per year for a total of 4 meetings, and one member from the PAC will attend the EATRIS-Plus project’s Annual General meetings. The group will contribute to the development of a patient involvement toolkit for translational researchers and will be consulted on key deliverables of the project.

The first meeting of the Patient Advisory Committee will be convened by November of this year, with planning activities beginning shortly after the summer period.

BACKGROUND

EATRIS-Plus will deliver innovative scientific tools to the research community, and will reinforce EATRIS’ leadership in the European Research Area, particularly in the field of Personalised Medicine research and development. EATRIS-Plus will work towards improving the understanding, data-sharing, and clinical needs of how gene, protein, mRNA and metabolite analysis will directly impact Personalised Medicine Solutions.

EPF is leading on the work on Stakeholder Engagement. To this aim, the Patient Advisory Committee will drive patient empowerment at the heart of EATRIS’s operations, and develop a patient involvement toolkit for translational researchers. We will also leverage our network to support in the international collaboration aspects of the work, including promoting more patient-driven research, launching a joint advocacy programme, and position papers with patient perspectives which are central to the work of the project.
