Patient Link Workshop: High Impact Patient Advocacy

Over 60 patient representatives, primarily from the neurological disease arena came together from 15-17 November to participate in the Patient Link Workshop, organised by the Medtronic Foundation.

Nicola Bedlington set the scene by giving an overview of the patient involvement in EU-level health policy. This morning session went on to explore how to work most effectively with MEPs. An open space session in the afternoon enabled patient group representatives from throughout Europe and the US to voice the issues closest to their hearts and exchange good practice. The final morning session examined digital advocacy and specifically the lessons learned from the experience of the Dystonia Society UK that transformed the organisation through effective and strategic use of the website and social media.
