The European Health Forum Gastein started the preparatory work of the 20th anniversary edition of its annual event. Under the motto ‘Health in All Politics – A Better Future for Europe’, the October gathering will aim to take this conceptual proposal to the political level by building bridges between different policy areas.

The European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) is a European health policy conference working as a platform for decision makers, experts and representatives of interest groups and civil society to discuss public health and healthcare. This year the EHFG will take place on 4-6 October in Austria´s Gastein valley and will gather over 500 participants. EPF will be there once again as a strategic partner to voice the patients’ perspective and to call for European values of solidarity and universality of access to a quality and affordable health and social care. EPF is represented by its Secretary General, Nicola Bedlington, as a member of the EHFG Advisory Committee of Experts.

The forum will also be the opportunity to present the European Health Award! This award honours initiatives aiming to improve public health or healthcare in Europe and its goal is to promote cross-border cooperation and development of sustainable, innovative initiatives addressing current challenges. The call for applications is open until 26 May when applications will be evaluated by a jury. The award comes with a prize of €10.000. (More information)

As in previous years, the Young Forum Gastein scholarship will be running in 2017, offering young health professionals the opportunity to attend the annual conference and to take part in the debates. The initiative, which started in 2007 as a joint project of the Gastein Forum and the European Commission, allows young health researchers and young professionals working in the healthcare environment to get acquainted with the latest health developments and to strengthen their network. For those interested, the call for applications is open and running until 10 May. (More information)

We look forward to the discussions during this major event on health, and in the meantime: do follow #EHFG2017 for fresh updates!
