Raising awareness for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The World Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Day takes place on the 19 May every year.  Our member, the European Federation of Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis Associations (EFCAA) will raise awareness about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis that affects five million people worldwide.

EFCCA will take part in the 20km race of Brussels, with a team made of their members from 15 countries, most of them being people with IBD, to raise awareness about Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. EPF supports our member and we will be running together, to raise awareness about Patient Empowerment.

EFCCA is also involved in the global IBD video campaign encouraging people with IBD to share their story in a short video with the theme “United We Stand”.  The campaign calls for anyone affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis to share their story. The videos will be made public on 19 May 2015 and can be viewed on the World IBD Day website.

“We want to show the world that having a chronic disease does not mean you cannot participate in an active and fulfilling life “ says Martin Kojinkov from the Bulgarian IBD patient association, EFCCA Board member and one of the 45 EFCCA runners.
