European Network for Patients Empowerment

Our Senior Policy Adviser Kaisa Immonen-Charalambous attended the European Network for Patients Empowerment - ENOPE meeting on 25-26 June 2013. The purpose of this two-days meeting was to finalise the ENOPE statutes and clarify the membership conditions, as well as plan for the 2014 Careum /ENOPE conference. ENOPE is a network whose goal is to promote patient empowerment in Europe. Its founding members are organisations that implement evidence based programmes to support empowerment and self-management of patients living with chronic diseases – the Careum foundation in Switzerland, the Danish committee for health education, and the UK-based expert patients programme community Interest Company.

“EPF welcomes the chance to collaborate with this network, which shares our fundamental philosophy that patients are a valuable resource for health systems rather than a problem”, said our Senior Policy Adviser.

The participants also discussed about the Careum Congress 2014 that will take place on 17-18 March 2014 in Basel, Switzerland. The event will be entitled “The power of patients 3.0” to explore ways to engage patients in future healthcare systems. You are invited to contribute to the event’s themes through a call for abstracts (see previous related article).
