Background

Malnutrition and undernutrition affect 33 million European citizens and places an unacceptable burden on European citizens and health care budgets. Ample scientific evidence shows that optimising nutrition and nutritional care is a very (cost-) effective measure in both disease prevention and treatment in cancer and COVID-19.

Nutritional Care and the EU
The EU is actively working on the new EU4Health programme, the Farm to Fork strategy, EU’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU health workforce plan. Together, these programmes provide an unprecedented opportunity to finally grand nutrition and nutritional care the important role it deserves and integrate optimal nutrition in prevention and care in the EU and its member states.

Organisers
The event is co-organised by the European Nutrition for Health Alliance (ENHA) and its members and partners, among others the European Patients’ Forum, the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) and European professional societies such as ESPEN (clinical nutrition & metabolism), EuGMS (geriatricians) and EFAD (dietitians).
