Join EPF’s platform for young patients and boost your strategic advocacy skills

Are you a young patient, representative, or carer? And are you ready to begin your patient advocacy journey? EPF offers Advocacy 101, an easy-to-access, tailored training course to help you build a solid base of knowledge and understanding of patient advocacy – at your own pace. And for free!

What will you learn?

The main objective of the Advocacy 101 training course is to provide you and your fellow participants with the strategic skills to make your mark as a patient advocate. You will be able to use your learnings to engage in public awareness and advocacy actions, both in your national context and on the European level. Next to this, you will gain in-depth knowledge of representative skills and discover how they can be applied in patient advocacy.

Some of the programme's key questions are:

  • What is patient advocacy?
  • What is the difference between advocacy, lobbying, and being a patient representative?
  • How do you make and use an advocacy map?
  • Where do experts get their expertise from?

Who do we expect this training platform to work best for?

We welcome all young patients (affiliated with a patient organisation, or not) and young patient representatives between the ages of 18 and 35. As a baseline, we think that a passion for patients’ rights and a general dedication to engaging in patient advocacy would be most beneficial for our participants’ learning process. We encourage you to transfer your learnings to peers in your community!

To get the most out of the course, it is recommended that your English is at a minimum CEFR level of B2.
