Mirela Dežman
Mirela Dežman serves as the Vice President of ECHDO and she leads the Croatian national association BIG HEART FOR A SMALL HEART.
In her volunteer work, she supports families affected by heart disease, connects pediatric patients with similar diagnoses, and raises awareness about pulmonary artery banding—a regenerative treatment for dilated cardiomyopathy.
Her advocacy focuses on patient rights, specifically the right to information and equal access to treatment across the EU. She advocates for GUCH patients to achieve full social integration and equality. Professionally, Mirela holds a degree in Economics and works in the financial sector, bringing extensive experience in developing healthcare project proposals and securing international funding.
